Based on our amazing volunteer experience in Peru this past fall, we’re heading on back!

May 22-31 – Chinchero Peru
You will be living and working with the family of Paulino and Vilma and working on a new computer room and library in the same boarding school we visited this past fall with members of the Chinchero Minka Cooperative. In addition, you may be helping Paulino’s family build smokeless stoves for villagers that help to reduce lung disorders in children who are exposed at an early age. ** Hot Projects **
These one-time projects, led by fellow Seattle Works volunteers, give you the opportunity to experience different organizations and activities without making a long-term commitment. Plug in where you can!

Sat 3/21 10am-2pm – Seattle School District – Science Resource Center
Help make it easy for teachers to teach by working with The Science Materials Center to refurbish the science kit of the month. Refurbishment includes emptying, inventorying, cleaning, and re-stocking kits. This is always a well managed and productive project; volunteer support is critical to timely delivery of kits to classrooms that are ready to use.

Thurs 3/26 6-8pm – University District Youth Center
The University District Youth Center provides support to homeless, at-risk, runaway youth between the ages of 13 and 22. The Center includes a drop-in facility that provides showers, food, clothing, laundry, and bus tickets to homeless youth. In addition, the center provides GED classes, on-site work training, employment support, and case management to assist with finding shelter, mental health counseling, and on-site drug and alcohol services.Help keep things in working order by helping to pack up and move boxes and giving it a good cleaning. Your elbow grease will free up a staff persons time so that they may directly impact the youth.
