About the Author

Brandi Bratrude Publisher/Editor, writer

Hi, my name is Brandi. I care about people and I care about the earth. I know how to write and use the skill to share information and create dialogues of progress. Sounds a little stiff, I know, and that’s where balance comes in. Balance, I’ve come to realize, is an important part of life — life cycles, health, sustainability, humanity. Basically, I spend time in serious, analytical thought figuring out how to clean up the mess we’re in and build sustainable communities and then balance it out with friends, family, music, food, mischief and laughter. I’m not happy unless I’m actively seeking change and right now seattleDIRT is the avenue. I hope you enjoy this project and please, participate! Contact Brandi Bratrude at brandimbratrude@gmail.com

Bart Mihailovich

Bart Mihailovich is a freelance environmental journalist in Spokane, Washington; a free spirit and a catalyst for change on the East side of the Cascades. Originally from Butte, Montana, home of the world’s largest Superfund site and some of the worst environmental damage in the West, Bart has been concerned about environmental issues since the first time he saw the Berkley Pit. A journalism degree from Eastern Washington University has allowed Bart an opportunity to spread his concerns and work towards outreach and solutions. He co-operates an environmental issues blog in Spokane called Down To Earth (http://dte.spokesmanreview.com). Bart thinks Gandhi said it best, “There is a sufficiency in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed.”

JP Kemmick

JP is an occasional contributor to seattleDIRT. He is a co-founder of the Cascade Climate Network a regional youth network working on solutions to climate change and currently works for the Sierra Club in Seattle. He has a host of side projects always in the works, most notably the Trek to Re-Energize America. When not busting it for the survival of the earth, he likes to read, write and throw a frisbee.
