Harvest Against Hunger VISTA postings

REPOST from Cascade Harvest Coalition

Rotary First Harvest has been granted 8 AmeriCorps VISTA positions to work on the Harvest Against Hunger gleaning program throughout the state of Washington. Harvest Against Hunger is a gleaning and outreach program that establishes connections between farms and local food banks, increasing both the amount of fresh produce available to food banks, as well as volunteer participation.

We are currently recruiting candidates for six of the VISTA positions, which are described at our website:
www.firstharvest.org/hah/VISTA positions.asp

Please forward this information to anyone you think might be interested.

Each position will be hosted by a local non-profit organization, which include: Bellingham Food Bank, Northwest Harvest Yakima, Second Harvest Tri-Cities, Thurston County Food Bank (Olympia), Rotary First Harvest (Seattle), and Solid Ground (Seattle). The VISTA positions are full-time, 12 month volunteer positions which receive a stipend, benefits, and educational award.

We are also searching for two more eastern Washington host sites, ideally one in Wenatchee and one in Moses Lake or Ephrata. If anyone knows an organization in those areas that might be interested in hosting a VISTA member to work on local gleaning and produce donations, please contact me.
