UMOJA FEST AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY FESTIVAL & PARADE  INVITATION
FOR PARTICIPATION, VENDORS, PERFORMERS AND VOLUNTEERS.

Seattle, WA – 2009 marks the celebration of 60 years of Seattle’s
annual African-American community celebration and marks a return to
the SEAFAIR family. The Umoja Family Fest African American Heritage
Festival & Parade will be held July 31-Aug 2, 2009 in Judkins Park in
Seattle’s historic central district and is now accepting sponsors,
vendors, parade entries and volunteers.

General Planning meetings are held every Tuesday at 7pm at Seattle
Vocational Institute Room 210, 2120 S. Jackson Street.

The African American Day Parade march, always a family favorite will
be held Saturday, August 1st, 12pm – 2pm. The parade will travel south
on 23rd avenue from Union street to Judkins Park.

About Umoja Fest

Umoja Family Fest African American Heritage Festival & Parade is the
oldest and largest African American community festival in the
northwest.

“Umoja” is a Swahili word which means “unity”, is the main theme of
the festival. Coordinated mostly by volunteers and young adults, the
Umoja Fest is a shining example of youth using their creative energy
to build stronger and safer communities.
