REPOST from Environmental Priorities Coalition (photo credit)

Two weeks ago, many of you weighed in with your legislators, urging them to support the Invest in Clean Water bill. Now, it’s crunch time. With only a few days left in session, your legislators will be voting on this critical bill to safeguard clean water at any moment and they need to hear from you today!

Email your legislators now and tell them it’s now or never to pass the Invest in Clean Water bill (HB 1614)

The clock is ticking and with just x days left in session, the House and Senate must vote on this bill by the end of the week. Our legislators are hearing from developers and industries responsible for polluting Washington’s waters and now they need to hear from you!

Background:

Right now, our water is under threat by contaminated stormwater runoff from oil and petroleum products. Overstretched local governments are struggling to meet the need for water treatment and clean up. Fortunately, Invest in Clean Water offers a way to solve this problem.

By imposing a modest fee on petroleum products that contribute to stormwater pollution, Invest in Clean Water would raise over $100 million in new funds that can be used for improved water quality in Puget Sound and across Washington. This polluter-pays approach could fund job-creating infrastructure projects in every district in the state.

Time is running out. Email your legislators now and urge them to pass the Invest in Clean Water bill

Thanks for all you do to protect Washington’s environment!
