heArtwrench Tour next Tues!!

WHAT:  show and theatre workshop

WHEN: next Tuesday, April 7

TIME:    3-7pm

WHERE: at SYPP (29th & Cherry, behind the E Cherry YWCA, buses 3 and 48)

The Heartwrench Tour is coming through to SYPP! Evan Hastings is doing a one-man show that combines hip hop, theatre and social justice. His show touches on what it is to be a man, dating violence and teen suicide.  Afterwards, he’s leading an interactive theatre workshop about using your experiences to break down conflicts with institutions. The one-man show starts at 4pm and the workshop starts at 5pm. Perks: Raffle, bus tokens and snacks. And it’s free!

SYPP Auction: May 16, 2009

LeJayah, our auction intern, and Jeremy have been working hard planning a fantastic auction fundraiser! Show them some love by RSVPing for our annual event at Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for youth. It’s going to be held Saturday, May 16 at Blaine Memorial Church on Beacon Hill. We’ve got announcements, performances and that famous dessert dash planned for you. If you’re super excited and want to be a table captain, give Jeremy a call at 860-9606. Drop me a line at if you would like to donate a dessert. Youth: get community service hours for volunteering—just email us!

Acting Our Age: Casting Call!

Acting Our Age is a new theatre project at SYPP. Youth are finishing up a script and will begin rehearsing later this month. If you are interested in acting or making props, then come to the meetings every Tuesday, 4pm, at SYPP. The play has two themes: the school-to-prison pipeline and a GLBTQ love story.
