Skills Like This
“My favorite film of SXSW…for its humor, honesty, and drive…it does it with style, a script and a bank robbery.”
– Joe O’Connell, The Austin Chronicle

The day before his 25th birthday, Max Solomon faces the awful truth-he will never be a writer. Having fostered the illusion of writerly greatness his entire life, Max is disconsolate. Sitting in a luncheonette bemoaning his fate with his slacker friend Tommy blustering on about the big things the friends are going to accomplish, Max gets up, walks across the street, and robs a bank. It seems he has a knack for grand larceny! His newfound talent ignites his passion, and sends his two best friends on their own journeys. Tommy, the slacker, is inspired to enter the job market, and Dave, only too aware of the consequences of grand theft, becomes obsessed with writing the perfect apology letter. It may not be the time to fall in love, but Max decides to follow up on the thunderbolt that hit him when he laid eyes on the first bank teller he robbed.

This hilarious comedy follows Max and friends through the course of three days that will forever change their lives. Monty Miranda’s able direction brings out the best in Spencer Berger’s wry script (Berger also plays the charismatic lead), and allows the ensemble cast to shine. Winner of the Audience Award at SXSW.

“For pure comedy, this is the nuts.” – Ain’t It Cool News
