Background:
Right now, our water is under threat by contaminated stormwater runoff from oil and petroleum products. Overstretched local governments are struggling to meet the need for water treatment and clean up. Fortunately, Invest in Clean Water offers a way to solve this problem.
By imposing a modest fee on petroleum products that contribute to stormwater pollution, Invest in Clean Water would raise over $100 million in new funds that can be used for improved water quality in Puget Sound and across Washington. This polluter-pays approach could fund job-creating infrastructure projects in every district in the state.
Time is running out. Email your legislators now and urge them to pass the Invest in Clean Water bill
Thanks for all you do to protect Washington’s environment!
