Event: Green Jobs Now National Day of Action Sept. 27

[REPOST from 1Sky Washington]

Are you ready to make our fossil fuel economy a thing of the past? We are! But, we simply don’t have people trained to do what’s it’s going to take. And, it’s going to take A LOT of people – people to install wind turbines, solar panels, insulate our homes-the list goes on and on. So right now, it’s up to us to make it absolutely clear to our decision-makers: we’re ready to kick-start a clean energy economy!

On Saturday, September 27th, let’s make that message clear! Join with folks in your community, and tens of thousands of people across the country for Green Jobs Now: A Day to Build the New Economy.

On this day of action, we can make it clear to state legislative candidates: We’re READY to build an inclusive green economy and we expect our state’s elected officials to lead the way! Whether it’s through a gathering of friends at a house party or a rally of folks ready for green jobs, your event can keep the pressure on our leaders to make green jobs a priority. In order to build a strong clean energy economy here in Washington, we need trained green collar workers. A state law passed in 2008 created a new green jobs training program, but that program needs to be funded in 2009. With decisive action now, we can position Washington as a clean energy leader.
